Edinburg, NY – 6 October 2026 – Blake Gendebien's campaign faces a federal investigation after an FEC complaint by an NY-21 voter, following multiple outlets' reports that Gendebien hired a foreign national from Ukraine to help manage his campaign funds, North Country Public Radio reports. A Saratoga County voter filed the complaint with the Federal Election Commission last week.
Federal law bars foreign nationals from making contributions or expenditures in American elections and from taking any part in a campaign's decision-making. FEC Deputy Press Officer Myles Martin previously told the Daily Caller “Commission regulations prohibit certain foreign national activity including contributions, donations, expenditures (including independent expenditures) and disbursements solicited, directed, received or made directly or indirectly by or from foreign nationals in connection with any federal, state or local election.”
Over the course of Gendebien’s federal violations coming to light, the widespread reporting, and now this federal complaint, Gendebien has refused to answer for any bit of it, ignoring media inquiries, or forcing his staff to stonewall reporters. His campaign manager has said the campaign won’t comment on personnel matters.
“Blake Gendebien violated federal law by handing his campaign's money operation to a foreign national, and now he’s facing a federal investigation over it,” said Anthony Constantino. “Voters shouldn't have to file federal complaints to get answers from a man asking for their trust. He owes the North Country the truth today.”
