Edinburg, NY – 8 October 2026 – Democratic congressional candidate Blake Gendebien refused to say whether he will vote for Kathy Hochul or Bruce Blakeman for governor when asked directly on WUTQ-FM's Talk of the Town. When the host pressed him for an answer, Gendebien still refused.
“What I support is anyone that will help the North Country,” Gendebien said while refusing to say who that person is after being asked.
The cohost called out the evasion on air. “I'm listening to you for this half hour. You do not answer questions directly,” he told Gendebien. “People who vote for you want to know how you stand on these issues. People are saying ‘this guy must be a good dancer because he dances around the questions.”
Constantino was shocked by the exchange which he quickly shared to social media. “Blake won't debate and he won't answer questions from the media,” said Constantino. “He doesn't want the job.”
Gendebien's refusal caps the least transparent campaign in NY-21 history. Hochul has said she is funneling money to Gendebien's campaign and backing his operation with her own staff and the state Democratic Party's infrastructure. She went on NY1's ‘Inside City Hall,’ bragged about selecting him herself, and said she is coordinating with Hakeem Jeffries to identify candidates that will help install him as Speaker of the House.
Gendebien must either start answering questions or admit he doesn't want the job.
